Premier League 2026/27 – Matchweek 6
Saturday, 10 October 2026 | Emirates Stadium | 12:30 BST
Arsenal return from the unusually long international break needing a response. Their perfect Premier League start ended emphatically at Brighton, where Mikel Arteta's side were beaten 3–0 after winning each of their opening four league matches. Leeds arrive in a very different position: fifth in the table, unbeaten in five league games and with only three goals conceded.
This is therefore not the straightforward champions-versus-promoted-side fixture the names might suggest. Arsenal remain clear favourites at the Emirates, but Leeds have already demonstrated that they can make established Premier League sides uncomfortable.
Where Arsenal Stand
Arsenal's Premier League results:
Arsenal 3–0 Coventry City
Aston Villa 0–1 Arsenal
Arsenal 2–1 Chelsea
Sunderland 0–2 Arsenal
Brighton 3–0 Arsenal
Their record: 12 points | 8 goals scored | 4 conceded
The first four matches were close to ideal.
W – W – W – W
Eight goals scored and only one conceded. Then Brighton completely disrupted that pattern.
Arsenal were beaten by Brighton's intensity, pressing and aggression in duels. Pascal Gross and Charalampos Kostoulas put the hosts 2–0 ahead before half-time, before Chema Andrés completed the 3–0 victory from a corner. Arteta acknowledged afterwards that Brighton deserved the result and identified Arsenal's technical errors and failure to compete effectively in key duels as major problems.
The international break therefore arrived at a useful moment. Arsenal have had three weeks to process their first poor performance of the season. Now comes the response.
Where Leeds Stand
Leeds' league results:
Nottingham Forest 0–1 Leeds United
Leeds United 1–1 Brentford
Brighton 1–1 Leeds United
Leeds United 4–1 Newcastle United
Leeds United 0–0 Crystal Palace
Their record: 9 points | 7 goals scored | 3 conceded
Perhaps the most important number is: 0 defeats. Leeds are one of the Premier League's remaining unbeaten sides.
Their sequence: W – D – D – W – D is particularly impressive when we consider they have already travelled to Forest and Brighton and beaten Newcastle 4–1.
They have also conceded only 0.60 goals per match.
That defensive stability changes how we should approach this fixture. Arsenal have historically dominated Leeds. But the current Leeds side is proving considerably more difficult to break down.
Betting Patterns Insights
Leeds are unbeaten in 5/5. Leeds have conceded only 3 goals in 5 matches.
Arsenal have scored in 4/5. Arsenal have won 4/5.
Leeds have stayed under 2.5 total goals in 4/5 league matches. Arsenal have stayed under 3.5 in 5/5.
And across the ten combined league matches played by these teams, only one has produced more than three goals: Leeds' 4–1 win over Newcastle.
That makes the goals market particularly interesting. The temptation is to expect another comfortable Arsenal victory because of the recent H2H.
The 2026/27 data argues for more caution.

Final Verdict
This is significantly more difficult for Arsenal than last season's results suggest. Leeds lost 5–0 at the Emirates and 4–0 at Elland Road against Arsenal in 2025/26.
But five matches into this season they are: unbeaten, fifth in the Premier League, and have conceded only three goals. That deserves respect.
Arsenal also enter the match after their worst performance of the season and with several significant injury questions following the international period.
Still, the Emirates changes the balance. Arsenal should control possession and territory. Leeds will probably defend well for substantial periods, but sustaining that resistance for the full match is another challenge.
I expect a considerably tighter contest than last season's meetings. But I also expect Arsenal to respond to Brighton with three points.
The clearer patterns are Arsenal avoiding another defeat, Leeds struggling to score multiple goals, and Arsenal's pressure becoming more dangerous after half-time.
