Matchweek 5 gives us one of the most interesting tactical clashes of the early Premier League season: the division's most productive attack against its strongest defence.

Brighton have scored 13 goals in four league matches, more than any other Premier League side. Arsenal arrive with a perfect four wins from four, having conceded only once.

Fabian Hürzeler's side are coming off a spectacular 5–0 victory at Coventry and another midweek win at Manchester United. Arsenal, meanwhile, have won every competitive match they have played this season.

Eight goals in two away matches. Hürzeler's team could hardly enter the Arsenal fixture with greater attacking confidence.

Final Verdict
This is Arsenal's most interesting Premier League test since Chelsea. Brighton are not simply collecting results.

They are scoring at an extraordinary rate. Thirteen goals in four league matches deserves respect, while victories of 5–0 at Coventry and 3–2 at Manchester United this week demonstrate that confidence is extremely high.

But Arsenal represent a completely different defensive challenge. Four Premier League matches have produced: four victories, three clean sheets and only one goal conceded. They have also continued winning despite an increasingly difficult away schedule. Brighton's injuries matter too. Facing Arsenal without Mitoma, Minteh, Hinshelwood and several other first-team options reduces Hürzeler's ability to maintain attacking intensity for 90 minutes.

I expect Brighton to make this uncomfortable. I also expect them to create chances. But Arsenal's defensive structure, midfield control and superior depth should gradually become more influential. The first half could be extremely competitive.

The second half is where I expect Arsenal to take control.
